Master Direction on Currency Distribution & Exchange Scheme (CDES)

The Reserve Bank of India has introduced a scheme to incentivize bank branches and currency chests based on their performance in rendering customer service to the public.

The scheme provides incentives for two types of services:

Capital Cost:

Incentives are provided for the exchange of soiled notes and adjudication of mutilated notes.

Revenue Cost:

Incentives are provided for the exchange of soiled notes and adjudication of mutilated notes.

To avail of these performance-based incentives, banks must follow the operational guidelines outlined in the Master Direction.

The scheme aims to improve customer service and promote efficient currency distribution and exchange.
