Introduction of Digital Life Certificates for Pensioners
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has introduced Digital Life Certificates (DLCs) to facilitate the submission of life certificates by pensioners.
The DLC system aims to simplify the process of submitting life certificates, reducing the need for physical presence and minimizing the risk of fraud.
Key Features:
DLCs will be generated through a face authentication technology-based system, ensuring a secure and tamper-proof process.
Pensioners can submit their DLCs from anywhere, at any time, using a desktop or mobile device with a camera.
The system will automatically update the pensioner’s life certificate status, eliminating the need for manual intervention.
DLCs will be accepted by all pension disbursing authorities, including banks and treasuries.
The RBI has advised banks and other pension disbursing authorities to develop the necessary infrastructure to support the DLC system.
Pensioners are encouraged to register for DLCs to avoid any disruption in their pension payments.
