Master Circular – Swarna Jayanti Shahari Rozgar Yojana (SJSRY)
The Swarna Jayanti Shahari Rozgar Yojana (SJSRY) is a comprehensive scheme aimed at providing employment opportunities to the urban poor.
Objectives: The objectives of SJSRY are to provide gainful employment to the urban poor, improve their socio-economic conditions, and enhance their quality of life.
Components: The scheme consists of seven components:
- Urban Self Employment Programme (USEP)
- Urban Women Self-Help Programme (UWSP)
- Skill Training for Employment Promotion amongst Urban Poor (Step-Up)
- Urban Wage Employment Programme (UWEP)
- Urban Community Development Network (UCDN)
Funding Pattern and Financial Procedures: The scheme is funded by the Central Government, State Governments, and the Urban Local Bodies. The funding pattern and financial procedures are outlined in the circular.
Urban Self Employment Programme (USEP): This component provides loans and subsidies to urban poor individuals for self-employment ventures. The target groups include educated unemployed youth, women, and disabled persons.
Urban Women Self-Help Programme (UWSP): This component provides loans and subsidies to urban poor women for self-employment ventures. It also includes a revolving fund for women’s self-help groups.
Skill Training for Employment Promotion amongst Urban Poor (Step-Up): This component provides skill training to urban poor individuals to enhance their employability.
Urban Wage Employment Programme (UWEP): This component provides wage employment opportunities to urban poor individuals in urban areas.
Urban Community Development Network (UCDN): This component focuses on community development and empowerment through community structures and community-based initiatives.
