Lead Bank Scheme Structure and Implementation
The Lead Bank Scheme is a framework for banks to coordinate and implement financial inclusion initiatives at the block, district, and state levels.
Block Level: The Block Level Bankers’ Committee (BLBC) is responsible for coordinating banking activities at the block level.
District Level: The District Consultative Committee (DCC) is constituted to oversee banking activities at the district level. The DCC meets quarterly to discuss issues, address grievances, and review progress. The District Level Review Committee (DLRC) meets annually to review the DCC’s performance.
State Level: The State Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC) is responsible for coordinating banking activities at the state level. The SLBC meets annually to discuss issues, review progress, and plan for the future. The SLBC website is standardized to provide uniform information and data.
Implementation: The Lead Bank Scheme is implemented through the preparation of credit plans, Potential Linked Credit Plans (PLPs), and monitoring performance. The scheme aims to promote financial inclusion and improve banking services at the grassroots level.
